A Case Against Abortion

     There is only one explanation for the extraordinary talent of Derek- God.  Did you notice that there was not one mention of God concerning Derek’s unique talent.  Oh, how blind the lost can be!  

     As I was watching and listening to Derek display his God-given talent I thought of the little value that the liberal element places on human life by aborting (murdering) lives in the womb.  How many great musicians, artists, writers, educators, leaders and preachers have been snuffed out by abortion?  What great loss humanity has suffered.

     Another thought popped into my mind as I watched the Derek video.  He might have been in the womb of millions of women who would have aborted him had they known of his abnormalities before his birth.  There are many “normal” people who are not nearly the contribution to the human spirit as Derek.

     The short-sighted wisdom of this world says that life begins at birth but that is contrary to the Word of God.  Read these words of God spoken to the Prophet Jeremiah.  “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:5    

     Three marvelous truths are found in those words.  First, God is the former or maker of all life in the womb.  Second, God, being the creator, knows who He is creating in the womb.  Third,  in addition to knowing that person in the womb God ordains that person to a purpose before birth.

     What the liberal crowd are ignorant of is the womb is God’s property and that which He nourishes to life there is His.  How in the world do people think they have the right to arbitrarily decide whether a child in the womb should be allowed to be born or not?  Shouldn’t that be left to the keeper of the womb - to the creator of that life in the womb - God?  

     There can be no other determination than abortion is murder - premeditated murder.  Imagine, arrogant and sinful people wantonly killing God’s human creations in the womb.  It has been estimated that over fifty million babies have been aborted since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Decision in 1973.  America is a murderous society in that respect and God will judge America. 

     I once saw a bumper sticker which I thought was most sensible.  It read, “Choose life. Your mother did”  I have to believe that there are many mothers who wish they had chosen life.  Surely there are many mothers who, after an abortion, spend much time lamenting their decision.  How sad.

Wrong Direction

                                    Please read THIS ARTICLE first


     The above article certainly suggests that America has a directional problem.  Every major poll shows that a huge majority of those polled believe America is headed in the wrong direction.  What does the polled majority perceive to be the right direction?  Doubtless they want a government that creates an atmosphere which stimulates the pursuit of personal liberty and success.

     I am not against that but it must come as the result of God's blessing rather than being forged by man's humanistic pursuits. America was founded by people strongly disposed to God.  America became a great nation not because of Americans but because Americans were rooted in a common belief in God.  This core belief made a people that God blessed with personal prosperity and a national greatness,  

     America has changed direction - a direction away from God.  That carries disastrous consequences.  Most, if not all, of our nations problems stem from traveling in the a direction away from God.  The Psalmist wrote: "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." Psalm 9:17  America has gone beyond forgetting God to actively trying to expunge Him from the American psyche altogether.

     There is only one hope for America and that is to resume the direction that we once traveled - the direction that leads to God.  Quoting the Psalmist once again, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord..."  Psalm 33:12  If America will turn back to God He will bless us with all that we need.  

     There is one right direction for all of us.  That is to come to the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation and receive admission into His church.  Otherwise we will remain traveling the wrong direction and be forever separated from God, Christ and the eternal church.

The Separation of Church and State

     There is much controversy in our country about the supposed constitutionally imposed  separation of Church and State.  There are many who propose that the church has no rightful place in government.  They wish for them to remain wholly separated - to be kept apart.

     The idea of a separated Church and State is an impossibility.  Let us first clarify the meaning of “church.”  Religion is commonly perceived to be the “church.”  Practically everyone claims a religion which in turn is seen as the church.  Therefore, government cannot be free of the religious church.  It is not, however, the religious church from which the government seeks separation.   

     It is the true church - the Christian church - that looms as a threat to government.  It is the Christian church they want to keep out by a spurious constitutional wall.  Why?  Because the Christian church acknowledges Jesus Christ and His Word whereas the religious churches deify humanity and follow human wisdom. 

     It is the Christian church which governments find necessary to expel and to exclude.  That is perfectly understandable because, for the most part, governments consist of those of the religious church rather than Christ’s church.  Religions are not Christ centered or Christ honoring.  Only the Christian church is the church of Jesus Christ.

     I think these words spoken by Jesus accurately describe the attitude of governments in their hostile attempt to separate from the righteous church.  “Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.”  Luke 6:22

     My next point is apt to unnerve some Christians but it is truth.  As much as governments desires to separate from the Christian church, Christians should more strongly strive to separate from worldly governments. 

     Many Christians naively believe that Christians can change governments for the better.  That has never happened and will not happen.  Yes, there are some good people in government but as a body whole it is a corrupt and ungodly.  The Bible says that evil men will continually grow worse.  II Timothy 3:13  The days in which we live are a testament to that truth.

     Finally, the Christian Church has not been called to change or purify government.  Jesus commissioned the church to teach the world of Him - to bring people to Him - and to disciple them.  Beside, a far greater pleasure has been promised the church than that of transforming human governments.  The church will one day reign on earth with Jesus Christ.  See Revelation 20:6

     It will then be the State (government) that is separated from rule.  Amen and Amen!
